Your privacy is critically important to us. At Unbrella ("we", "us", or "our"), we have a few fundamental principles:
- We don't ask you for personal information.
- We don't store your personal information on our servers.
- We don't share your personal information with anyone.
- We are in the business of selling a great weather app, not selling your data to advertisers.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information.
Location Data
Unbrella uses your device's location services to provide hyper-local weather forecasts. This location data is processed locally on your device and sent directly to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve forecast data. We (Campanale LLC) do not have access to your location, and it is never stored on our servers (because we don't have any).
Usage Data & Analytics
We do not use third-party analytics services (such as Firebase, Google Analytics, or Mixpanel) to track your behavior within the app. We do not track which screens you view, which buttons you click, or how long you use the app.
2. Third-Party Services
To provide weather data, Unbrella interacts with the following third-party services:
- Apple WeatherKit: Used for primary weather data (forecasts, conditions). Apple's Weather Privacy Policy applies.
- RainViewer: Used for radar map tiles. Your IP address may be visible to RainViewer when fetching map tiles, consistent with standard internet protocols.
- National Weather Service (NWS): Used for government-issued severe weather alerts in the US.
3. Data Storage
All user settings, saved locations, and search history are stored locally on your device using
UserDefaults. If you delete the app, this data is deleted.
We do not maintain any external databases or user accounts.
4. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
